The DAD Dual 3G-SDI Embedder / De-Embedder Card (CARD-2SDI) provides seamless integration between professional digital audio systems and SDI video infrastructures. Designed for broadcast control rooms, OB vehicles, live production, television playout and post-production facilities, the card supports two independent 3G-SDI embedder/de-embedder channels, each capable of handling up to 16 channels of embedded audio. Independent sample rate conversion on both inputs and outputs ensures reliable operation between asynchronous audio and video systems while maintaining deterministic low-latency performance throughout the DAD Thunder|Core platform.

The DAD Dual 3G-SDI Embedder / De-Embedder Card (CARD-2SDI) has been purpose-engineered for professional broadcast, television production, outside broadcast (OB), post-production and live production facilities that require reliable integration between SDI video and professional digital audio infrastructures. Supporting two completely independent 3G-SDI embedder/de-embedder channels, the CARD-2SDI enables broadcast engineers to seamlessly insert or extract embedded audio from SDI video signals while maintaining the exceptional audio quality, deterministic routing and ultra-low latency performance of the DAD Thunder|Core platform.
Whether deployed in television control rooms, production galleries, master control, fly-away systems, mobile production units or post-production facilities, the CARD-2SDI provides an elegant bridge between modern digital audio networks and traditional SDI video workflows. Independent sample rate conversion on every input and output allows asynchronous audio systems to be integrated without requiring external synchronisation equipment, significantly simplifying complex broadcast installations while preserving signal integrity.
Television production increasingly demands the movement of large numbers of audio channels between production switchers, replay servers, graphics systems, audio consoles, intercom systems and routing infrastructures. The DAD CARD-2SDI allows embedded audio to move seamlessly between SDI video and the DAD Thunder|Core routing environment, providing engineers with complete flexibility when managing programme audio, international sound, commentary channels, clean feeds and auxiliary programme outputs.
Each SDI interface operates independently, allowing two completely separate production paths to be managed simultaneously. This flexibility makes the CARD-2SDI equally suitable for live television production, news facilities, sports broadcasting, outside broadcast vehicles, fly-away production systems and permanent broadcast installations where multiple programme feeds must be processed simultaneously.
Each 3G-SDI interface supports up to 16 channels of embedded digital audio, allowing engineers to embed professional audio directly into SDI video streams or extract embedded audio for routing throughout the DAD ecosystem. The process is completely transparent, preserving audio quality while maintaining synchronisation with the associated video signal.
Independent Sample Rate Conversion (SRC) on both the embedder and de-embedder paths provides additional operational flexibility by allowing equipment operating on different clock domains to be connected without requiring external sample rate converters. This capability is particularly valuable in broadcast environments where multiple manufacturers’ equipment must coexist within a single production infrastructure.
Like every DAD expansion module, the CARD-2SDI benefits from the deterministic routing architecture of the DAD Thunder|Core FPGA platform. Audio extracted from SDI signals becomes immediately available throughout the internal routing matrix, allowing it to be distributed to analogue outputs, Dante®, MADI, AES3, ADAT, monitoring systems, recording workstations or additional SDI outputs without introducing unnecessary latency.
Likewise, audio from any source connected to the DAD system can be embedded directly into outgoing SDI video feeds, creating an exceptionally flexible production environment capable of adapting to changing operational requirements while maintaining broadcast reliability.
Broadcast engineers demand equipment that performs predictably under continuous operation. The CARD-2SDI has therefore been designed to provide stable long-term operation in mission-critical environments including television studios, master control rooms, outside broadcast vehicles, sports production, live entertainment and post-production facilities. Combined with DADman software, engineers can configure routing, embedding and de-embedding operations quickly while maintaining complete visibility of the entire signal path.
Because the CARD-2SDI integrates directly into the DAD Thunder|Core ecosystem, it eliminates the need for multiple standalone SDI embedder and de-embedder units, reducing rack space, simplifying installation and increasing overall system reliability.
