The DAD Dual MADI Interface Card is a professional AES10 MADI expansion card engineered for broadcast, live production, post-production and mission-critical audio applications. Designed for the DAD AX Center, AX32, AX64 and Penta Series, the card provides two independent bidirectional MADI interfaces supporting up to 128 channels of digital audio at 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz. Each MADI interface features independently selectable Sample Rate Conversion (SRC), allowing asynchronous digital audio systems operating on different clock domains to be interconnected without external converters. The DAD Dual MADI Interface Card with Sample Rate Conversion (SRC) provides a flexible, high-performance solution for integrating MADI (AES10) equipment into modern broadcast, live production, post-production and recording workflows. Featuring two independent bidirectional MADI interfaces, the card supports up to 128 channels of digital audio I/O (2 × 64 channels) at 44.1 kHz and 48 kHz, making it ideal for expanding professional audio systems while maintaining exceptional reliability and interoperability.

Each MADI interface utilises an SFP transceiver slot, allowing engineers to select the most appropriate media for their installation. Optical SFP modules support both single-mode and multi-mode fibre connections for long-distance, interference-free transmission, while electrical SFP modules provide HD-BNC coaxial connectivity for seamless integration with existing MADI infrastructures. This modular approach allows the interface to be tailored to the specific requirements of broadcast facilities, OB vehicles, performance venues and mission-critical production environments. SFP transceiver modules are available separately.

Each MADI port provides 64 input channels and 64 output channels at standard sample rates and supports operation from 44.1 kHz through 384 kHz. Channel capacity automatically scales with higher sample rates, providing 32 channels at 88.2/96 kHz, 16 channels at 176.4/192 kHz and 8 channels at 352.8/384 kHz. The interface supports both legacy SMUX and high-speed MADI frame formats, ensuring compatibility with a wide range of professional broadcast and recording equipment.

A key advantage of the DAD Dual MADI Card is its independent Sample Rate Conversion (SRC) on both the inputs and outputs of each MADI port. This allows asynchronous MADI devices operating at different sample rates or clock domains to be connected without requiring external sample rate converters, significantly simplifying complex system integration while maintaining stable, low-latency operation. Synchronisation can be derived directly from the incoming MADI signal or from the host system clock, providing maximum flexibility across mixed-format installations.
